1. Seaside Promenade beach

Pondicherry Beach is called as Promenade Beach around 1.5 kilometres in length. It is very popular and most visited place in the Pondicherry and preferable for in the evening. This place is stretch of beachfront in the city of Pondicherry along with Bay of Bengal. This is not the swimming and water sports beach. Good for evening walk with friends and family. There has Gandhi statue, Ambedkar Mani Mandabam, Duplex statue, French war memorial, Kargil war memorial and Old lighthouse. There is large vehicles parking space nearby the beach and multiple ways for entry to the beach road. The completed stretch of road will be colourfully in the night with different buildings decorated with attracted lights.

2. Paradise beach

The Paradise beach is known as Island of Pondicherry, this beach reach via Chunnambar boat house. This is also one of the most sight places in the Pondicherry. This place is comfortable for family, solo travellers and friends. Travel of time taken is 15 to 30 minutes for reach to Paradise beach from the boat house. There are few huts which sell the normal snacks and soft drinks. Also you can carry the home cooked food and snacks. It is very calm and peaceful place who was needs relax. Then getting down in the beach can clearly see the point of where the sea and the backwaters meet each other. This point is called as fishing ground because of sometimes the fishes comes from the sea water out.

3. Auroville

Auroville Ashram is the city Dawn and it an experimental township of Pondicherry placed nearby the East Coast Road. It was founded by Mirra Alfassa in 1968, the spiritual collaborator of Sri Aurobindo. In the middle of the town is the Matrimandir, which has been acclaimed as "an outstanding and original architectural achievement. Auroville will be a site of material and spiritual researches for a living embodiment of an actual Human Unity. There has nearby the Auroville beach and resorts. It is very good open place with fresh air and calm feeling. Gorgeous endless view of seashore and clean water when compare other than Indian beaches. Good street food to eat and comfortable for morning walk and evening stroll.

4. Botanical Garden

The Botanical Garden is one of the great educational and recreational of Pondicherry. This garden was laid out 1826 in ornate French Style. Feature of the garden are gorgeous fountains, a large aquarium with ornamental fishes, Japanese rock, dancing fountain and beautiful children’s train. The garden houses more than 1500 pieces plants with placards indicating the species, common name and interesting information like the uses of the tree, amount of oxygen generated and its medicinal values. It is very restful place of exchanges and sharing the knowledge with besides the exhibitions of painting, photography and sculptures. They have timings and frequency of the shows may vary depending on the seasons.

5. Aurobindo Ashram

The Ashram is located in the eastern part of Pondicherry. The Ashram was founded in 1926 by Sri Aurobindo Ghose, an Indian freedom fighter, poet, philosopher, and yogi. Ashram is very quiet with peaceful calm place for visited people and spiritual people. Ashramites live and work in a large number of buildings spread throughout the area. The focus of community life is the Ashram main building, usually called simply "the Ashram", which consists of an interconnected block of houses, including those in which Sri Aurobindo and the Mother lived for most of their lives. At its centre, in a tree-shaded courtyard, lies the Samadhi, a white-marble shrine where their bodies are laid to rest. This is a well known spiritual ashram in India, with devotees and seekers from India and all over the world flocking to it for spiritual salvation. Its spiritual tenets represent a synthesis of yoga and modern science.

6. Manakular vinayagar Temple

Manakula Vinayagar Temple is one of the most sightseeing places in the Pondicherry and it is famous ancient Temple of union region of Pondicherry. It is a grand and beautiful temple, dedicated to the Hindu lord Ganesha. During the tenure of Dupleix, there were attempts to destroy the temple, but the temple was finally spared owing to strong protests from the Hindu population and the threat of British & Maratha invasion of the territory. Forty different forms of Lord Ganesha are portrayed on the walls of the temple along with a golden spire. The Manakula Vinagar in Tamil, ‘manal’ means sand and ‘kulam’ means puddle near the sea and early it was full of sand around puddle. So that people called the God as Manal Kulathu Vinayagar. Latterly the temple named as Manakula Vinayagar. Morning 6 am to 1 pm Evening 4.00 pm to 09.30 pm, timings are change during Festival days and Holidays.

7. Serenity beach

The Serenity beach is located at north town of Pondicherry, also popular sea view in the north town of union territory. Swathed with pristine golden sands and lapped by shimmering waters of the Bay of Bengal. Surrounded by palm trees, this beach is an ideal place for friends and family. Fishing boats are parked on the shore and the waves are bigger than the adjoining Auro beach. It is best to stick to the shore line when swimming on this stretch of sand. There is private bathroom with a shower in every unit. Carry towels, change of clothes, some of water and snacks it we want to say a while.

8. Barathi Park

The Barathi Park is most well known peaceful place in Pondicherry, it looks like a greenest attractions of union territory. Apart from the green expanse, one more popular attracts many visitors to this park is the famous monument of “Aayi Mandapam” which was centre in the park. This is the symbol for Government of Pondicherry. When enters in the Pondicherry boundary we will see this Aayi mandapam symbol. There is children’s play ground with several equipments and surrounded by the park are Government hospital, Romain Rolland Library, Restaurant, Pondicherry Private Club, Pondicherry Legislative Assembly and Lt. Governor’s palace.

9. Church of Immaculate conception cathedral

The Immaculate Conception cathedral is one of the famous sightseeing in Pondicherry. It is call as “Samba Kovil”, which is phonetic corruption of “Saint Paul’s Kovil” where “Kovil” means church or temple. The Immaculate Conecption Cathedral, the typical Jesuit edifice resembles the robin’s egg-blue and cloud-white colour Goa-like Portuguese style. The Fest of this Church, the Immaculate Conception of Blessed Virgin Mary falls on the 8th of December. The 300 year old church is also the residence of the bishop. Mass services are conducted in Tamil and English. The cathedral was visited by Mother Teresa during her visit to Puducherry. Revel in the blissful ambiance. Attend the Holy Communion. 10. Church of Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus

The Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is also most visited place in Pondicherry. In 2008-2009, there was celebrated as centenary year of founding the parish. It contains rare stained glass panels depicting events from the life of Christ and saints of the Catholic Church. A special postal stamp and postal envelope were released to mark the valedictory function of the centenary celebrations. It has become one of the famous pilgrimage spots for Christians in recent years. The Church is 100 years old historical and has been led by twenty parish priests. Latin rite cross shape in aerial view is Gothic style and 24 main columns hold the structure. The blessing of the church and the first mass was held at the western wing of the present church by Mgr. Gandhi on 17, December 1907.
